The mission of Counselor Kirk, LLC is to lead, learn, and advocate by sharing ideas, resources, and knowledge.
Sarah Kirk is a National Board Certified Counselor and the School Counselor Specialist at the Oklahoma State Department of Education. In this role she has created and implemented a state-wide, ASCA aligned comprehensive school counseling framework. She was a School Counselor for nine years. As a school counselor leader, she advocates for comprehensive school counseling programs for every student to meet their social, emotional, academic, and career development needs. She advocates for the creation and implementation of programs and interventions that meet the needs of the whole child including innovative supports such as Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS); trauma-informed practices; yoga and mindfulness practices in school and restorative responses to behavior.
Sarah received her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Science and her Master of Science degree in Counseling from Oklahoma State University. She is pursuing her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at Capella University. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American School Counselor Association. She considers herself a lifelong learner and takes advantage of professional development and advocacy opportunities as much as possible. In 2019, her School Counseling Program became a Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) through the American School Counselor Association. Sarah was Oklahoma's 2018 School Counselor of the Year and an ASCA 2019 National School Counselor of the Year Finalist. Sarah is an advocate for the profession and is passionate about equity and access to school counseling services for all students.
In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling, running, yoga, bike riding, reading, volunteering, and filling other people's buckets!
